Don’t let the word “office” scare you away – LibreOffice is a great alternative to Microsoft Office and other expensive software. It’s free, it’s easy to use, and it has all the features you need to get your work done. Whether you’re a student, a small business owner, or just someone who needs to do a little bit of paperwork now and then, LibreOffice is definitely worth checking out. So what are you waiting for? Start downloading!

Who is LibreOffice for?

LibreOffice can be used as a free tool for users and businesses without the risk that they’ve been missing out on any functionality or support. Although some businesses employ a Libreoffice system, it’s difficult to support them. Developing companies can choose LibreOffice since open-source software allows you to customize the code based on the requirements you are looking to achieve. Several partners offer business versions in addition to customer satisfaction levels agreements (CSLA). LibreOffice is recommended for the following reasons:

Hit-or-miss Features

LibreOffice has unique feature sets which it does not implement properly. LibreOffice handled documents redaction as examples of this. If a file has been exported to a PDF, it may require redactions, but for this the application opens the graphic image of your document with its Draw program, which exports the file as an image format pdf so that you have no need for the PDF. The suite also automatically removes text and phrases from the menu. But when you want to manually select a text you’re editing in Draw, you must create boxes to mark the text.

Performance and compatibility

I hope the latest versions of LibreOffice do not have crashes more frequently than previous versions. Windows is pretty robust at this point. Sometimes my Mac versions crash when changing a font setting, and sometimes the file freezes if the file is opened or reopened without any problems. It usually works on the second time for a similar file, therefore that’s a nuisance rather than a compromise. During this second try LibreOffice can be started using the Safe mode to get everything to work. I also used safety mode in my suite to restore its default interface if the interface had changed too confusingly.

An Open-Source Approach

A rich history has led to the development of the LibreOffice platform in its earliest days. The Suite attempts to emulate all 365 apps from Microsoft to Microsoft Office. It also enables Libre Office users in a way that would have a much simpler user experience than Microsoft Office users. Using a shortcut key in LibreOffice could be just as difficult for a user than a shortcut key. In particular Alt-equals are used as the autosumkey in Calc, like in Excel. Similar features of LibreOffice appear similar to Microsoft’s similar features.

LibreOffice’s pricing

LibreOffice is free to download for the most supported platforms and can be used on almost any device. New updates are released regularly and you can download them immediately. The technical services available are limited, however. Document Foundation suggests contacting a partner ecosystem to help with new features if required. Libreoffice also provides certification and can help you with technical assistance. Our professional staff includes a developer, migration specialist as well as a certified trainer.

LibreOffice Interface
LibreOffice Interface

It is possible you have LibreOffice installed in your home and are familiar with MS Office software. This interface resembles formerly available Microsoft versions though a recent update provides a desktop bar-style view that closely resembles Google / Microsoft interface. The LibreOffice suite has definite learning curves though. Some functions are contained within sub-menu so clicking more times will yield your desired result.

Interface issues. From the beginning

A major advantage of choosing LibreOffice, especially in larger businesses, is that it offers a consistent solution. LibreOffice uses the identical interface with similar functionality across all platforms. Unfortunately, LibreOffice Writer welcomes you to an cluttered environment, unlike Google and the Microsoft app. There’s also a top menu, two icon-packed horizontal toolbars, and a ruler.

LibreOffice Calc
LibreOffice Calc

LibreOffice is a text editor based on writing software called Writer and a spreadsheet editor called Calc. The program includes presentation apps like Impress. It is a very useful set. You don’t need to manage your emails and contacts, maybe you already use some other tool. Whatever you use should be moderner and more stylish than anything that LibreOffice offers. We’ll do it right.

LibreOffice features

Libre Office has the tools to create document, spreadsheet and presentation. It also provides similar databases to Microsoft Access. But the software lacks communication / collaboration features for users. It does not have a cloud storage system, but it offers document management best practices. LibreOffice’s main capabilities include:

LibreOffice’s support

Like other platforms, LibreOffice provides no immediate support to its users. Customer service is offered by the telephone or online. For help with LibreOffice, please click here.

LibreOffice may not be the best office software out there, but it’s a good option for those who are looking for an alternative to Microsoft Office. It’s free, it’s available on multiple platforms, and it has most of the features that you need in an office suite. So if you’re looking to save some money or switch to a different operating system, LibreOffice is a good choice. And hey, maybe one day it will even be as good as Microsoft Office!

LibreOffice, now at version 7.4, is one of the best-known open-source office suites. Open-source software has real appeal for government offices, financial firms, and other privacy-conscious users, because they can examine the source code for vulnerabilities themselves.
